How to Clean your Ugg Boots

My wife recently bought a pair of ugg boots which she seems intent on wearing until they self destruct. She wanted to know how she could clean then so she set about researching the best ways and also tried a bit of experimentation..this is the article she wrote following the reseach.
You've now got your first pair of Ugg boots and after wearing them for a while you may find that they have started to lose that new look about them. In this article we are going to provide you with some tips on how to clean your Ugg boots so that they stay looking as good as new.
Yes these boots are extremely comfortable to wear and because of this you may find yourself wearing them alot. Which is all well and good until they start to get dirty and start to smell. Certainly one way of making sure that your boots remaining look good is by using a specialist cleaning product which has been designed for use on leather and suede items.
The biggest problem that may stop you from buying such a cleaning product is the price. Certainly some of the ones that are advertised for use by boot makers can be extremely expensive. So rather than waste money on these we provide a number of steps to clean your Ugg Boots and ensure that they stay looking as good as they day they came out of the box.
Step 1 - You need to very lightly dampen the outside of the boot with some cold water. It is important that at no stage do you fully immerse them in water. Immersing them in water not only affects the lining of the boot inside but will also cause the boot to become misshaped.
Step 2 - At this stage you need to mix 1 part cleaning solution (suitable for cleaning leather) with 1 part water and again taking a sponge you dip it into this solution and then wipe this over the outside of the boot.
Step 3 - As you apply the diluted cleaning solution you should rub the sponge gently over the boots and then rinse this off with another sponge that has been put in clean cold water.
Step 4 - After you have finished the above steps you now need to take some paper towels and stuff these into the boots. You can if you wish use newspaper instead as long as you stuff in enough so that the boots shape is retained. Then place them in a place to dry. Do not leave them either in direct sunlight or close to a heat source.
Step 5 - The final stage is where you will need to bring the nap back up on your Ugg Boots after they have dried. The easiest way of achieving this is by getting a suede brush or using a lint free cloth to brush them with. Plus if you want to remove any unwanted odors from inside the boots mix up 2tspn of corn flour with 2 tspn of baking powder and then sprinkle inside the boot. Leave over night and then remove the excess by turning the boot upside and shaking it.

If you live in an area where they salt the roads. the best way I got the salt off of mine was to wet a toothbrush and shake off the extra water and scrub a bit. but first use the dry toothbrush to get the excess salt off of them. it is pretty cheep to do and maintains them pretty well.

Great tips on keeping these boots clean. I had heard about using Dryel sheets from the do it yourself dry cleaning kits. Good to see a method that has been tested though, as I'd hate to ruin my boots.

this works
a while ago , aka last christmas i got new bailey botton uggs..... that was not a goood idea. and what i mean by that is that got really dirty really fast . now they look like a peice of crap and im trying to find a way to fix them and this did not help. it didnt ruin them or anything but it didnt help with the dirt. Oh well , im off to the next website looking for a new way! ;)

I have used Oxiclean on the really tough stains the books hold their shape and clean the non really tough stains without any damage to the boot. You need to get a soft bush and not to wet. The morning they are dry and looking good.
You can get this spray and it works and prevents them from getting dirty its called: Kiwi Suede Cleaner. It worked for me i just bought mine Also

Hi, Do not put your UGGs in the washing machine, no matter who tells you to! BIG MISTAKE they are easily damaged and shrink in the wash even if they do come out looking cleaner!! Rumour has it you can send them back to UGG Australia [if they are genuine Uggs] for £25 and they will clean them... I offer a cleaning service for £10 using genuine ugg australia cleaning products that i use to clean all my uggs and they come out fantastic!!
